Although the bulk of the bombshells dropped by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan were being about the royal family and British tabloid press, the few did share one particular massive key about their just one-calendar year-outdated daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana: that Tyler Perry is her godfather.
In the sixth episode of the docuseries, Meghan and Perry touch on their record. Perry allow the few use his household and they all became near friends—close enough that Meghan was filmed talking to Perry the day after her and Harry’s Oprah job interview aired. Perry himself explained there was more they could’ve shared but failed to to Oprah.
Later in the episode, Perry remembers when Harry and Meghan referred to as him, inquiring him to be Lili’s godfather. “We’ll phone and we’ll chat and we’ll discuss about foolish things,” Perry says of their relationship generally. With that contact, “they were being really major on the cell phone. I go, ‘Okay, what’s heading on?’ And they mentioned, ‘Well, we’d like for you to be Lili’s godfather.’ I go, ‘Whoa.’ I had to just take a minute to acquire that in. And I assumed, ‘I’d be honored. I’d be unquestionably honored.’ And I received off the telephone, took it all in, and then I named them again. I go ‘Uh, hold on a second. Does this mean we bought to go above there and do all of that in the church with them and figure all that out? ‘Cause I really don’t want to do that. Probably we can do a tiny personal ceremony below and let that be that, and if you have to do it there, then it’s all right.’”
Lili eventually didn’t have a baptism in the Uk while she celebrated her to start with birthday there, as the family members was in city for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Aspects about her baptism have been kept personal, along with who her godmother might be.
Of Lili herself, Harry shares that his a person-calendar year-aged reminds him of his mother. “I assume at the minute I see a ton of my wife in Archie, and I see a large amount of my mother in Lili,” he claims in the doc. “She’s extremely Spencer-like.
