Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Makeup Artist Shares His Serum-After-Makeup Hack

[ad_1]

Jason Hoffman, VP of Artistry & Education for Amyris—the parent company of model-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Rose Inc—knows a lot about makeup (he’s worked on creative direction for brands like NARS, Shu Uemura, Giorgio Armani, and Laura Mercier, to name a few), but that doesn’t mean he loves piling it on—especially during the summer months.

“I want the skin to come through,” he shares during a recent meeting to celebrate the line’s new cream bronzer and cream highlighter launch, where he swears he can do my makeup in under five minutes (I’m positive it was less)—all while imparting his wisdom for the easiest hack ever for making bronzer-highlighter look so much better. Spoiler alert: It involves mixing up your serum step.

Tip 1: Apply Serum After Makeup:

“I am constantly rearranging the order of makeup application to get a different outcome while using the same products,” Hoffman says. “I love to go back over makeup and press in the Rose Inc Radiant Reveal Brightening Serum. It instantly plumps, hydrates and softens the look of ‘just-applied’ foundation.”

Tip 2: Look at Lighting Differently:

As Hoffman confirms, there’s no set order for getting a glow: “My current obsession is ‘pre-lighting’ the skin. I will apply a liberal amount of the Rose Inc Solar Radiance Hydrating Cream Highlighter to the highpoints of the face and the apples of the cheeks. After, I go in and apply the Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum. The effect is truly ethereal and literally, lit from within.”

Tip 3: Don’t stop at the Neck:

After the complexion is done (pre-lit or not), Hoffman likes adding the Rose Inc Solar Infusion Soft-Focus Cream Bronzer to the cheeks and temples, and buffing that with the Rose Inc Number 5 Bronzer Brush or Rose Inc Number 3 Foundation Brush. “I will often add additional highlight to the cheeks for extra glow. My finishing touch for summer skin, however, is ALWAYS mixing the Rose Inc Radiant Reveal Brightening Serum with highlighter and brushing on the arms, legs and collarbones!”
