Britney Spears set the record straight about who was and wasn’t invited to her wedding last week, calling out her brother Bryan’s role in her conservatorship and the comments he’s made claiming she isn’t capable of taking care of herself.
On Monday, June 13, the pop star tackled the tabloid speculation that her brother was supposed to attend her wedding head-on, posting a lengthy message to her Instagram account that has since been deleted. “You were never invited to my wedding so why even respond ??? Do you honestly think I want my brother there who told me no to a Jack and coke for 4 years…what???,” she wrote in the social media message. “If we were going to drink together at the wedding and play the classy roles for the children like you and mom [Lynne Spears] do as you literally hid coffee and alcohol when I would come home.” She added, “you hurt me and you know it!!!”
At one point, she also compared Bryan’s treatment of her under her conservatorship to that of their father Jamie Spears. She went on to say that in honor of finally being free of both her estranged family and her conservatorship, “I might force myself to drink Jack tonight…look up at the moon and say ‘FUCK YOU !!!’ I know you’re blood and yes blood runs deep but no family of mine would do what you guys did to me.”
In another portion of the message, Spears told her brother, “your podcast interview was so SPECIAL!!!,” with an eyeroll emoji, “I know you and the family had no bad intentions at all whatsoever taking all those years away when I wanted to honestly just be a respected individual with a glass of red wine. But like you said in your interview, Bryan when asked by that incredibly kind man, ‘why doesn’t your family just let her be???’ Your response was, ‘she can’t even make a dinner reservation.’ None of you ever wanted it to end because you all loved telling me what to do and treating me like absolutely nothing!!!”
The singer continued, “What you said right there to that man in that interview said everything, Bryan!!!” She later added, “Psss I have an assistant to make my dinner reservations…DID YOU NOT KNOW???” Spears concluded the post by writing, “I liked your post, brother!!! Happy Britdependence Day!!! Congratulations Brit Brit!!! GO FUCK YOURSELF Bryan – Fuck you.”
Britney Spears seems to be referring to Bryan’s 2020 appearance the As NOT Seen on TV Podcast, during which he was asked by host Drew Plotkin about the pop star’s desire to be free of her conservatorship. He replied, “I know what she wants, but at the end of the day what is the reality of that? What is the practicality of that? So are you going to call and make reservations for yourself today?”
Following Spears’s wedding last week, Bryan’s girlfriend Amber Lynn Conklin also reportedly claimed they were unable to attend the wedding as the ceremony took place on the same day as his 11-year-old daughter’s elementary school graduation. She also commented under a different post on their shared Instagram account that Bryan “couldn’t help the timing,” adding that he “felt terrible having to choose but he had to be there for his daughter and sent his love to Britney x1000000. We are so sad to miss such an important moment but so so happy for Britney and Sam’s Marriage!”
